In June 2011 we will be installing solar panels on the roof of the Blue House. The entire energy output will be about 4kw which is enough to power most appliances in the house during the day.

We are making use of the government initiative where we will be paid by the KW generated through the Feed-in Tariffs (FITs) which are a financial support measure introduced to increase the uptake of small-scale renewable generation (<5MWe) and help deliver the UK’s 2020 renewable energy targets. The mechanism provides renewable generators with a 25 year guaranteed per unit support payments (p/kWh) for electricity generation.

We selected ENGENSA to install the panels. More updates as the installation progresses.
